Canadian Family Vacation | Sandpoint, Idaho Portrait Photography
A Canadian family vacation to Sandpoint, Idaho. I love it! The Penner family plans a two-week vacation each year to Sandpoint, and this year they wanted to update their family photos! I’ve been getting so many requests from vacationers wanting family portraits done while they’re visiting Sandpoint, and I’m not complaining!
We had so much fun on our early morning family portrait session together. The gorgeous Riley Creek Recreation Area was the perfect backdrop for their pictures. With five young grandkids running around, their session was certain an energy-filled one. A couple meltdowns and a lot of laughs later, we managed to capture some pretty great images for this Canadian family vacation.
Personally, my favorite pictures are the ones with the grandparents and grandkids. It’s so fun to be able to capture generational photos.
A quick tip for family photographers: when the kiddos have a lot of energy, I often love just letting the kids be kids. I capture them in the candid moments of silliness and laughter. Often times, these images are the ones I love the most!
Try to get the kids to play games, run toward the camera, or give them a specific task to do. Energetic kids will almost always do better when given a task rather than if you ask them to just stand still and smile at the camera.
This more journalistic style of photography can definitely be more of a challenge, but you will almost always get the BEST candid images this way.
