Turtle House Wedding, Clark Fork, Idaho | Garret & Alysha Say “I Do”
This Turtle House wedding was the epitome of what a North Idaho wedding should be. Expansive mountain views made the perfect backdrop to this waterfront wedding venue. Garret and Alysha totally lucked out with the weather. With the temperature being in the triple digits just a week prior, their wedding day ended up being a very comfortable day in the low 80’s with very light smokey skies shielding the sun from beating down too harshly.
That was another factor. When you’re planning a July wedding in north Idaho, you just never know what you’re going to get with smoke season this time of year. Thankfully, although smoke season has rolled in, it certainly wasn’t bad enough to dampen this couple’s special day.
I first met Garret and Alysha this spring when we captured their beautiful sunset engagement photos. Their easy going personalities made it incredibly easy to create an instant connection. It also didn’t hurt that they were total naturals in front of a camera. My husband, Jon, joined me on their engagement session to help with their two dogs they were bringing. And by the end of the session, Garret was inviting Jon to the wedding, too! To say that we loved spending time with them would be an understatement.
Garret and Alysha’s Turtle House wedding was beautiful. There were a fair share of hiccups with bridal party members going missing and dinner plates being forgotten back at Alysha’s house. But I would say that for planning and coordinating a wedding entirely on her own, Alysha was a total rockstar. Even with the hiccups, she was never phased, and I admire that so much. I’m so grateful for chill, easy-going brides.
Our time spent taking portraits of the couple after the ceremony was hands down my favorite time of the day. Not only is it a great time to get creative behind the camera, but it’s also such an honor to be the one who gets to spend those first moments with newlyweds. It suddenly seems so quiet as we get to step away from the guests, music, and busyness of the wedding day. For a few moments, it’s just me and my camera capturing the first images of the couple as husband and wife. What a blessing that is!
Garret and Alysha, I pray that you both build a beautiful life together. It was an honor to be a part of your special day. Thank you so much for trusting me to capture these moments for you.
