The Road Less Traveled | Charlotte Child Photographer
As a young student, I remember reading Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken,” and I became instantly hooked to the truth that it spoke. When raising a child, you may think they don’t fit the typical mold that you would have chosen for them. I was one of those children. Growing up, I was always very outspoken, adventurous, and chose muddy boots and camping over dresses and pretend tea parties. As the poem goes, “I – I took the one [road] less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” I did, and it has. I always had more guy friends than girl friends. I got picked on in school for dressing like a Tomboy. But, you know what, I turned out quite alright. I am a successful woman who wears dresses and high heels, is married to an insanely driven man, and I’m confident about myself.
Moms, don’t get discouraged if your little girl would rather go camping with daddy than go shopping with you. Because a lot of times, as your little one grows older, the roles that you and your husband play in his or her life will change; and they’ll change again, and again. Be supportive of who they are in that moment, always. They will thank you for it later. Trust me. You got this!
Families are my passion! I love creating real connections with parents and their children during our sessions together. Capturing that love creates a one-of-a-kind moment, frozen in time, that you can hold on to forever; long after the kids are grown and out of the house.
