What a breath of fresh air! Melissa literally came out of nowhere. This Sandpoint headshot session was an unexpected surprise, and I’m so excited to share this story.
About two months ago, Jon and I decided to become hosts on Boondockers Welcome. For this not familiar with the RV world, boondocking is a term that is used to say that you’re camping without hookups (electricity, water, etc). Boondockers Welcome is a site that connects traveling RVers to hosts that offer up their property as a place to stay for free. It’s a fantastic service with a wonderful community that we’ve taken advantage of ourselves while we were living as full-time RVers in 2017.
Fast forward two years, and now we’re the ones hosting travelers. And so far, it’s been super fun to meet the people we have through hosting. Our most recent guest, Melissa, came to stay for just one night. Conversation came so easy as we realized just how much we had in common. She’s a Pennsylvania native, like us. She graduated from Penn State University, like Jon. She loved Young Living Essential Oils, like us. She’s a complete and total animal-lover, like us. And the list could probably go on.
After chatting, we quickly realized that she was animal-deprived. She quickly bonded with our Golden Retriever, Josie. Jokingly, she mentioned wanting Josie to spend the night with her in the camper. Without even blinking, Jon and I both said, “Well you can have her for the night if you want.” You should have seen her face. It was priceless. She was shocked that we would offer such a thing to a complete and total stranger. But at this point, she honestly felt more like an old friend. Besides, this is what Josie was meant for. This is her purpose in life. She has endless love to give to all who are willing to receive it.
The next morning, I text Melissa to ask if I could take a picture of her with Josie in front of the camper so that I could share this sweet story. And because she’s also a girl boss, I figured we could snap a few headshots for her while we were at it.
Melissa is such a down-to-earth person who literally lights up the room. I wish her nothing but the best. Safe travels! I sure hope our paths cross again sometime soon!
