Homestead Family Photos | Sandpoint, Idaho Fall Family Portraits
It was so much fun getting to spend time with the Williams family for their homestead family photos this fall. They have a 5 acre property in a small subdivision in Sandpoint, Idaho, so I was totally not expecting to get out of my car and be greeted by a giant white goose! Haha!
I don’t know about you, but I love chickens, and the Williams family has plenty of them on their little 5-acre homestead. They were all walking around, scavenging for any tasty treat they could find as they ran free range on the property. Several ducks trotted around as well. And that goose! Well, she wasn’t so friendly (or so I was told). Apparently, the only person she listens to is Grace (the mom). And with a few claps of her hands and some stern words, the goose does an about face and walks in the opposite direction. Haha!
Joining us for a lot of the photos were the family’s two mini Goldendoodles. I’m a total doodle lover…of any kind…although I’ve never owned one of my own. But after seeing how their curly little coats pick up every little stick, leaf, and burr, it’s definitely making me think twice. Haha! Regardless of breed, I love including family dogs and other pets into our family photo sessions. Even though I may be biased to some breeds over others, I am totally animal-lover at heart. I welcome all! =)
Their family homestead photos were taken on one of the coldest days of the fall. It was incredibly chilly, and the kiddos were all troopers about it. We roamed their acreage as we took some family photos in the beautiful tall grass field behind their home. The sun was beginning to set, and we had the most magical sunlight peeping through the trees. We ended the session on their front porch surrounded by all of Grace’s beautiful potted mums she had sitting out, which are some of my absolute favorite flowers.
We made their family homestead photos pretty quick compared to most sessions. It was quite chilly, and some of their outfits just weren’t quite cutting it for those temperatures. We ended up getting plenty of really great shots, though, and I’m excited to share them with you.
Family sessions are meant to be fun and laid back. We explore, we capture you and your family just as you are in those candid little moments that happen between the posed ones. Often times, those little candid moments end up being some of my favorite photos of the entire family portrait session. We usually spend about an hour together. And for those of you who don’t enjoy being in front of a camera (ahem…me), don’t worry, that hour usually flies by…and pretty painless I might add. =)
