Black Hills Family Portraits | Eakin Family South Dakota
Black Hills family portraits will always be some of my most favorite sessions that I get to shoot. The Black Hills of South Dakota will always be close to my heart. We spend a lot of time in the hills visiting my husband’s parents; even lived here for a hot minute, ourselves. And although we may not call it our home, it sure does feel like one.
So when I get the opportunity to be in South Dakota in the later part of the year, I always try to reach out to my friends to let them know that I’ll be offering family sessions. Kara has been a sweet friend of ours ever since we moved here in October 2013. Being largely a retirement town, it’s difficult to find young people in Custer that we could build relationships with. It was easy from the start. Kara is originally from Pennsylvania, so we’ve always had that connection. We’ve been able to watch her girls grow up over the years. From toddlers that could barely put a sentence together to now young ladies who act way too old for their own good.
We were able to get together on a brisk, windy day. The surrounding pine trees created a nice break from the sharp cold. I love watching the deep connections between Olivia and Aubri grow over the years. We had fun capturing some memories for them, and even snuck in a few tickle fights for good measure.
Thank you, Kara, for allowing me to continue being a part of your family’s life in the best way I know how. It truly is a pleasure doing life with you all.
