Alysha + Garret | Romantic Sunset Engagement Photos on Lake Pend Oreille
Alysha reached out to me earlier this year about photographing her wedding. And when we started talking details for their engagement session, she mentioned two things: water and sunset. I knew just the place to make them both happen.
Alysha and Garret are the sweetest couple, and I can’t wait for their wedding day to get here. They wanted to include Alysha’s two boys and their two dogs, so I brought my husband (Jon) along with me to manage the animals. I’m a huge animal-lover, so I always love when clients want to include their furry friends.
And since there would also be extra people there, Jon is always really good with creating conversation and occupying time while I take the couple off to capture some images of just the two of them. And of course, Jon and Garret hit it off once they started chatting about sports. It’s always sports. haha!
An Epic Night for Sunset Engagement Photos
A little bit of a backstory. It just so happens that the night before this engagement session, we had the biggest Northern Lights show that Idaho has seen in 20 years. I have no doubt that the lingering Aurora had something to do with our epic sunset that night. But whatever the reason, we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful evening.
Side note…the sunset photos look so incredibly dreamy and romantic. However, what you don’t see are the millions of mosquitos that were swarming around us the entire time. Thankfully, we came prepared with insect repellant. We’ve been in north Idaho long enough to know that springtime is the absolute worst when it comes to mosquitos. And, of course, they always make their entrance right at sunset. Alysha, Garret and the boys were such great troopers, though. And I think everyone can agree after seeing their gallery…it was totally worth it!
