Lakefront Family Photos | Fitzpatrick Family on Lake Pend Oreille

Have I mentioned lately how much I love large family portrait sessions? A lot of my time is spent with vacationers here in Sandpoint. It’s no secret that we are a very busy tourist town that serves both winter sports enthusiasts and water lovers alike. The Fitzpatrick family was no exception as they came tougher from all over the PNW for the lakefront family photos.

Lake Pend Oreille is the main attraction during our summers here in Sandpoint, Idaho. Our 43 mile long lake provides so many activities and sights to see while visiting our fast-growing small town. And not surprisingly, the lake is the #1 requested backdrop for family photos.

Something epic happened…

On this particular day, it had been raining off and on all day. The weather was supposed to take a turn just about an hour before our session started. When I arrived, the skies were just clearing up and the sun was coming out. It was perfect…until we actually started capturing our first set of photos…

It started to sprinkle. Then the sprinkle turned to rain, so we decided to head inside their Airbnb and wait it out. Just as we were filtering into the living area of the home, I spotted this amazing rainbow stretching across the entire lake. It was epic and gorgeous. Not only was there one, but almost THREE rainbows! Can you imagine!?

We quickly got the family outside near the water and barely had enough time to capture the very last moments of the rainbow. Fortunately, I was able to capture the rainbow in its entirety by itself. Even though the family wasn’t in the shot, it was still such a wonderful memory to include in their final gallery.

Celebrating 50 Years o f Marriage

I had a super fun evening spending time with the Fitzpatrick family. They traveled to Sandpoint to celebrate grandma and grandpa’s 50th wedding anniversary, so the photoshoot was specifically focused on the grandparents and grandkids. It was incredibly special, and I had so much fun capturing this moment for them.
